GroupLocate Legal
Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how GroupLocate handles information when you use the app to create or join groups, invite members, scan QR codes, and share live location on a map.
1. Information We Collect
- Profile information such as your display name, language preference, app identifiers, and basic group membership details.
- Group and invite information such as groups you create or join, group names, invite links or codes, join actions, and membership status.
- Precise location information, including latitude, longitude, heading or direction data, timestamps, and accuracy information when sharing is enabled.
- Camera access and scan results when you choose to scan a QR code to join a group.
- Basic device and app information such as device model, operating system, app version, and app language needed to operate and support the app.
- Ad-related data such as whether an ad was requested or shown, basic ad interaction events, and identifiers or consent signals used by the ad SDK where permitted.
2. How We Use Information
- To create and manage your profile, groups, invite flows, and membership changes.
- To show your shared location and other members’ shared locations on the map for the groups you choose.
- To support optional background location sharing while sharing is active, including Android foreground service notifications when required by the operating system.
- To let you scan QR codes to join groups more quickly when you choose to use the camera.
- To display, measure, and help manage in-app advertising where available.
- To troubleshoot issues, prevent misuse, maintain security, and comply with legal obligations.
3. Location Sharing
GroupLocate only accesses your precise location after you grant permission. If you turn sharing on, the app may update your location while the app is open and, if you separately allow background location, while the app is closed or not in use, subject to device and operating system behavior.
Background location sharing is optional. If enabled, GroupLocate can continue collecting and sharing your location with the group members you choose while sharing remains active. You can stop sharing at any time in the app or by changing permissions in your device settings.
4. How Information May Be Shared
We do not sell personal information or precise location data to third parties for their own marketing use.
- With members of a group you join or create, when you choose to share location with that group.
- With service providers that help host the app, store data, deliver ads, send notifications, or support app operations.
- When required by law, regulation, legal process, or when necessary to protect users, the public, or the developer’s rights.
5. Third-Party Services
GroupLocate may use third-party services such as Firebase, Google Maps, and Google Mobile Ads / AdMob to operate app features.
6. Retention and Deletion
Information is kept only for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the app, maintain group history, troubleshoot issues, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations.
If you stop using the app, leave groups, clear app data, or uninstall the app, some information may remain in backups or operational logs for a limited period for safety, anti-abuse, or legal reasons.
7. Your Choices
- You can turn location sharing on or off at any time.
- You can decide whether to allow background location, and you can change location permissions in your device settings.
- You can use a manual invite code instead of scanning a QR code, and you can manage camera permissions in your device settings.
- You can leave groups or remove the app from your device.
- Depending on your region and platform, you may be shown privacy or consent choices before ads are requested.
- Where applicable law allows, you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information.
8. Children
GroupLocate is not directed to children or to anyone who is not legally permitted to consent to data processing under applicable law.
